Ask for an invite

The web app opens with an emailed link from the sign-in page. The iPhone app is by invitation: tell me who you are and what draws you to this, and I’ll read it myself and reply, including when the answer is not yet.

Asked first because it’s the one answer that can end this. Where you live decides which privacy law binds the whole service.
It has to be a Google account — the calendar it writes into is that account’s.

Not yet, and the form will tell you so rather than take your details and go quiet. The reason, in full.
You’ll see a Google warning
Until verification clears, signing in shows an “unverified app” screen you have to click past. Better to know now.
