Terms of use
These terms cover this website, the character quiz and the invite-only app on web and iPhone. They are written to be read. Using any part of Joshua421 means you accept them.
Who provides this
Joshua421 is operated by Kenneth Cheung in Australia. Contact: ken@joshua421.app.
Who can use it
The website and the character quiz are open to anyone able to accept these terms. If you are under 18, use Joshua421 with a parent or guardian’s knowledge and permission.
Accounts are issued by invitation only, and an invitation request grants nothing by itself. Invitations are not issued to residents of the European Union, the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, and sign-ups from those countries are refused rather than stored.
What it costs
The quiz and the invite-only app are free. There is no subscription and no checkout. Running the service costs about $7 AUD per person per month. Where giving is offered, it is voluntary, it buys no feature or priority, and it is not refundable once made unless we have made an error.
Your content and your account
What you write stays yours. You give us only the permission needed to run the service for you: to store, display and process your content as described in the privacy policy and the AI and data statement. We do not use your writing to train AI models, and we do not sell it.
Keep your sign-in secure and tell us if you think someone else has used it. You can delete your account at any time from the account page.
Fair use
Do not use Joshua421 to harm, harass or deceive anyone, to share another person’s private material without their consent, to break the law, or to attack, overload or reverse the service’s security. Group spaces have their own safety rules, and we can suspend access that puts people at risk, especially where minors are involved.
The Joshua421 name, the character artwork and the site content belong to us and are not for redistribution. The published source code is licensed separately in its repository.
What this service is not
Joshua421 is a beta in active development. Features can change or break, and the AI companion can be wrong. It is not spiritual, medical, legal or mental-health advice, and it is not a crisis service. In an emergency in Australia, call 000. Lifeline is 13 11 14 and Kids Helpline is 1800 55 1800.
The service is provided as it is, without a guarantee of availability or of fitness for a particular purpose. Keep your own copies of anything you cannot afford to lose. Nothing here limits rights you have under the Australian Consumer Law or other rights that cannot be excluded. Where liability can be limited, ours is limited to resupplying the service.
Ending access
You can stop using Joshua421 at any time and delete your account. We can suspend or end access if these terms are broken or if it is necessary to protect people, and we will say why unless telling you would create a risk.
Changes and governing law
We may update these terms as the service develops. Material changes are shown here with a new date, and invited members are emailed before changes that affect them take effect. These terms are governed by the law of New South Wales, Australia.
